We headed to Charleston for a warm-weather Memorial Day weekend getaway, and I packed with sunshine and sweet tea in mind. Think: breezy dresses, oversized sunnies, comfy-chic sandals, and a straw tote that goes from brunch to beach with ease. I kept the palette light and classic: white & blue stripes, vibrant pink, and a lots of raffia accessories, perfect for touring the College of Charleston (HOW is Henry about to be a senior?!) or catching golden hour by the harbor.
A swipe of tinted SPF (linked my holy grail below), a sweet striped maxi dress, and a good book made the cut too. The only thing I should have packed, but didn’t? An umbrella. Wow, that Southern rain hits different!
Below are some highlights of what I brought with me to the Holy City, including one piece I take with me no matter where or what time of year I’m traveling:

It doesn’t matter if I’m going to Mexico in July or Paris in December, I never go on vacation without this one piece: the Gaspard cardigan from Sezane, specifically in light beige. (I also own it in mottled grey, but for some reason the beige is what I reach for more than anything else.) It’s the perfect light layer for a chilly airplane, dinner on the beach or tying around your shoulders just in case. Seriously, I don’t leave home for longer than a day without it.
